Holly Madison vs Las Vegas Producer

13 Jan

Holly Madison is the star of a new burlesque Las Vegas show called ‘Peepshow’. And the producers apparently ordered Holly to lose weight, saying that she is too fat to get into the costumes for the show. (Source: Radar Online)

“I just feel like I market myself as a sex symbol, I don’t market myself as a fitness model or a professional dancer so I feel like the way I look is fine!” Holly said.

Yes, you look fine, Holly, a bit on the plastic side, but to each his own. Seriously, this smells like a marketing stunt to get free publicity for the show (I guess I just contributed).  If it isn’t a PR stunt, then this is another example of  what’s wrong with the world. No wonder we have so many eating disorders if the likes of Holly Madison are publicly told that they are too fat.

Common sense solution: Don’t diet, let out the costumes.

It reminds of when Greg got to be the rock star Johnny Bravo on The Brady Bunch, but then he found out it had nothing to do with his talent, he just fit the costume the record producer already had.

These days fitting the mold seems to be #1 far ahead of having any real talent.

He just fit the costume? That’s why he got the part? That’s hilarious 🙂

yep, it was a major blow to his new-found rock star ego.

Well, now I have the “Clowns never laughed before” Johnny Bravo song from the Brady Bunch movie stuck in my head. But that aside, this kind of thing always just bothers me, and it seems like no matter what the response is (I mean, take Jennifer Love Hewitt, who defended her body then lost a bunch of weight), it’s not quite right. Undoubtedly, though, this just has to do with the fact that women can’t really win when it comes to appearance and the media.

True, women can’t win. I wish I could blame it on the guys, but sometimes or actually quite often, other women are equally harsh judges.

Women seem in constant competition with each other. We constantly have to prove our worth as women, which is usually based on appearance &/or being a “good girl” or lady, & being better than other women somehow gives us worth bonus points. A typical problem with any group in a society who isn’t at the top. You have to fight to curry favor with those who are to gain access to their privileges.

It’s why these issues aren’t as prevalent among lesbians & other women centric cultures. Proof men are just a bad influence! lol
